I've got toothache!

Started up on Saturday evening, just as I was enjoying a pizza. An excruciating shock as I bit down actually made me yell out loud with pain - and I'm no wimp where pain's concerned.

Well, I managed to finish my pizza.....slowly......chewing on the other side of my mouth, you'll be glad to know There's not a lot can put me off my food!

Anyway, it being the weekend, I've had to soldier on through it with the aid of pain-killers, and phoned up the Dentist first thing this morning. The earliest appointment they could offer me was 5th November, but they've promised to contact me straight away if they have any cancellations for an earlier date.

I guess I'll just have to keep popping the pills then.

  It's not too bad so long as I keep taking pain-killers. Hopefully there'll be a cancellation and I'll be able to get it fixed earlier than the 5th

        he's very perky, he's been abit ill over the vets (sick) but he's a different cat with the drip in so hopefully they'll get him to eat some more food XXX

Oh poor you raving nothing worse than toothache! do you notice they always tend to occur over the weekend when you cannot get to the dentist !!its awful you have to wait so long as well x

  I was thinking that - just my luck it happened Friday night when it was too late to contact the dentist! Though it probably wouldn't have made any difference for an earlier appointment Never mind - I'm a big girl....I'll cope

What an awful long wait - I do hope they get a cancellation. If the pain gets worse go straight to A&E

  I'm all right so long as I take a tablet as soon as I feel it coming back, but I'm a bit worried about having to take them for so long

have you tried going to a chemist to ask if they could suggest anything that might help? good luck!

  Not too pleasant, but I'm managing - on the plus side I can't feel any of my other aches and pains while I'm taking the tablets

Oh I know how you feel been putting off going to the dentist for weeks and today the toothache has taken hold and even the painkillers aren't working. I rang up a new dentist that my daughter has just joined and they have got me in tomorrow morning 10am. I am very nervous about dentists but know I've got to go.
Hope you get sorted sooner than the 5th or at least the pain eases for you.

Thats an awfully long wait! Go as steady on the pills as you can hun.. If its a small hole/crack you have and the nerves exposed..Try 'dentatemp' from the chemist..The hole might be so small you cant see it..

Hope the dentist has a cancelation soon..If it gets too bad..Pester them. xxx

  I've got a bridge on one side of my mouth, that fills a gap where a tooth had to be taken out. It's one of the teeth the bridge is cemented to that's painful. Would dentatemp still work? (I don't actually know what it is) - you can't actually see any of the painful tooth at all

    Dentatemp is like a putty that you mould onto the painfull tooth..It then sets into a temporary filling ..it fills any gaps and cracks sealing off any holes that air or hot/cold drinks get into the nerve area. Not sure if it would help if your not sure which tooth is painfull. Hugs xx

      I know which one it is, but it's covered up by the bridge (The bridge is like two crowns with a false tooth between them filling the gap where I had a tooth taken out) It's one of the teeth that's crowned that hurts.

        Hmmm...There may be a small hole in between the tooth and the crown letting in air to the nerve?..Or possibilty an abcess as it hurts when you bite down..Don't think the dentatemp would help as its more of a temporay filling..If it hurts to much though..I would kep on at your dentist. I know that my dentist has an 'emergency' 'emergency' list! xx

        Hopefully they will see you..and soon! Toothache is one the worst pains there is! I actually thunk it's worst than childbirth! ((hugs))
        
        Im pretty much the same as to be fair hun..Its the hair loss Im finding the hardest..thats what's bothering me the most..had the biggest loss of all yesterday so did'nt sleep much last night through worry and now have visible bald spots near my fringe line..and my parting is rather wide!More blood tests today then a 2 week wait for the result's.. fingers crossed xxx

      That's worse really - insomnia I mean - I don't get it very often, but I have had it, and I know how washed out it leaves you feeling.

        I dont normally drink because it causes my gut to become inflamed and i end up in a lot of pain but last night i sipped a glass of brandy and coke and i did sleep a bit better but dare not make a habit of it. It is awful because yes you do feel washed out next day when you dont sleep. ((Hugs))xxx

        Do you have IBS? - I have that and my doctor prescribes Fibergel for me. I take it twice a day before meals, and it does seem to help

        I have IBS and a hiatus hernia makes drinking wine rather painful but one has to keep going..opening some white next makes a lovely drink with Gaviscon

  I've phoned again, but no joy - I'm not at all impressed, but I don't seem to have much alternative to just waiting it out and hoping for a cancellation to come up - or going private! I'm sure they'd find a space for me if I did that Money talks!!!!

  Had a temporary root filling done today, starting to hurt again now the anaesthetic's wearing off, but hopefully that's just from the drilling etc today and will be all right tomorrow.
  
  Have to go back in a couple of weeks to have the temporary filling replaced with a permanent one
